Sampha wins 2017’s Mercury Prize

This year’s nomination list of the Mercury Prize featured a wide array of artists, Ed Sheeran, Alt-J, J Hus and Stormzy among others. While every single one of them would have deserved to win the highly anticipated award, Sampha was chosen as the ultimate winner thanks to his amazingly beautiful debut album Process. The London-based wordsmith, who has already co-written and produced songs for the likes of Solange or Frank Ocean, performed his single (No One Knows Me) Like The Piano throughout the show and proved everyone that he has what it takes to win the Mercury Prize.

Stormzy performs Blinded By Your Grace in BBC 1’s Live Lounge

Stormzy’s had the most incredible year so far, from dropping his debut album to rising to top 1 of the Independent Charts and ultimately being nominated for this year’s Mercury Prize. This week the Grime MC was invited to BBC 1’s Live Lounge and performed his singles Blinded By Your Grace, one of his slower jams, Cigarettes and Sweet Like Chocolate. Without a doubt the session was performed with such flawlessness – ¬†supported by incredible background vocalists who added the final special touch.
