0 Let Me Tell You About... / Music / The Round Up

It’s Friday, which means its time for the roundup and this week we have highlights from the likes of Cardi B, Beyoncé and SZA. Let’s get straight into it!

Cardi B lands number one spot on the US charts

There has been an influx of rappers over the last couple decades that have been sailing the flag for females. However, Cardi B took that to the next level by making history with her infectious single Bodak Yellow and becoming the first female rapper to grab the number one position, since the iconic single Doo Wop (That Thing) by Lauryn Hill. The scene showed its support with the likes of Nicki Minaj and Missy Elliott tweeting their congratulations.

Beyoncé drops a remix of J. Balvin and Willy William’s Mi Gente

2017 seems to be the year of Reggaeton and the genre which lies its roots in South America has received exposure from major UK and US acts who have remixed tracks. First, there was Justin Bieber with the remix of Despacito, then Little Mix with Reggaetón Lento and now Beyoncé with Mi Gente. Soaking up the flavours of Moombahton, a sound that fuses the essence of house and reggaeton music, Mi Gente remix features a concoction of infectious beats and Beyoncé is the cherry on the cake.

The proceeding of the single will be going to charities in Puerto Rico, Mexico and the Caribbean islands, to help raise money for people who have been affected by the hurricanes and earthquakes.

Chip shutdown Koko Camden in his headline show

Last night Chip delivered a jam-packed show where he performed his tracks from his latest album League of My Own II. The energy level was in abundance and capitulated to all corners of the venue.  He also brought heavyweights in the scene such as Giggs, Lethal Bizzle, Stormzy, D Double E, Ghetts and JME. Along with a countless number of guest appearances from Stylo G, Kojo Funds to 67 and Lotto Boyz.

Ebenezer releases new song Cliché

Having worked with the likes of Craig David, Jeremih, Ty Dolla Sign amongst others; Ebenezer steps out into the spotlight with his new single Cliché. A synth heavy and melodic jam that will more than likely make you check out more of his R&B Trap hybrid style. Clear and to the point, Cliché doesn’t beat you over the head with old rap tropes, Ebenezer clearly has something to say on this track.
